Can I Use Content That May Have a Copyright?

If you think that the material that you are using might be infringing upon somebody else's idea or content, we would suggest not including it in your template. The easiest way to check whether it is ok for you to use somebody else's content in your template is to contact them directly and ask for their permission.

Ultimately, Modeloe cannot advise on any copyright issue and takes no responsibility for the material that you place on our platform. Remember that you retain the rights to all of the content that you place on Modeloe and that we are simply the platform through which you deliver that material.

Reporting Claims of Copyright Infringement

Modeloe takes claims of copyright infringement seriously. We will respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with applicable law. If you believe any materials accessible on or from www.modeloe.com (the "Website") infringe your copyright, you may request removal of those materials (or access to them) from the Website by submitting written notification via this form. (Please note that this form is English only.)

Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit Modeloe to locate the material (i.e., the URL of the webpage containing the material).

Information reasonably sufficient to permit Modeloe to contact you, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address at which you may be contacted.

A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed

If you fail to comply with all of the requirements above, notice may not be effective.

Please be aware that if you knowingly materially misrepresent that material or activity on the Website is infringing your copyright, you may be held liable for damages.

Template Material Guidelines

To deliver a consistent user experience, Modeloe templates must meet minimum standards   for approval. The Quality Review Team will help you get your template approved when you submit your template for review. We reserve the right to re-review courses if instructors violate these standards at any point.

The template material needs to meet our quality review guidelines (link here) and may only include information relevant to your template topic.

You may include your website, social media profiles, or contact information as a link at the footer of your template.

You may not include links to paid content off Modeloe. The only exception is you’re providing access to a tool/product that is part of the template Requirements e.g. a YouTube video showing how to use the template in question, which is stated in the Course Landing Page.

You may not post personal information about users.

You may not include affiliate links.

You may not include coupon codes, links or promotional references to any Modeloe templates.

Template landing Page (Rules & Guidelines)

The Template Landing Page includes the title, subtitle, template summary, designer bio and template features. This is where designers provide information to help potential users decide whether the template is right for them.

Don’t engage in misleading marketing messages; if a user has a bad experience because of a bad fit with the template, it can result in bad reviews and low engagement. Don’t include coupon codes or external links (except in the designated links field of the instructor bio) either.

Instructor – Detailed Guidelines

Modeloe strictly prohibits the following in any sections of the template landing page:

Misleading marketing messages

Coupon codes or references to coupon codes

External links (except in the designated links field of the Instructor Bio)

Referring to your other Modeloe templates is allowed only when it helps you be more transparent to users. For example, if you have a large template A, and a smaller template B that covers a portion of what you cover in A, then it’s good to let users know this in the template Landing Page or Promo Video. Don’t use this as an opportunity to sell your other course, but to let users know so they can make an informed decision.

When a designer is clearly going against the spirit of Modeloe policies, in an attempt to game the system or if we see a severe negative impact on the user experience (high unsubscribe rates or refund rates), it will be considered a violation of our policies.

Promotions via The Template Landing Page

Some promotions are allowed via the template landing page on Modeloe. on each template page, you will have your social media icons there to the right side of the screen, here you can click on any of them e.g. the twitter icon and this will share your template to your twitter feed helping you publicise it to your followers. You can edit the message before it is sent to include the coupon code for this template before posting it your designated social media outlet. The same can be done for Facebook and LinkedIn

What are the minimum standards regarding templates

In order to publish your template, each of your template files must contain an a template feature that explains what the template is designed for and how it is to be used, the software it was designed in must be identified and any accompanying installation or usage instruction must be highlighted. Ideally Modeloe recommends Calibri fonts for your templates as a standard.

You must also set the album sleeve artwork for your template before publishing, the template sleeve is what users see accompanying the template when they come to the site and the template is displayed.

You also must follow the guide price recommended and templates not appropriately pried will be reviewed and a guide price set by Modeloe.

Pricing Your Course

Your Modeloe templates can be free or paid. If you would like to charge for your courses, the first step is to fill out our Add a template form located on the Designer tab of your dashboard once you are logged in. Once you fill the add template form you can select a price for your template.

While you, the designer set the base price for your template, we do have marketplace price standards in order to ensure a consistent and intuitive pricing experience for users. We also offer guidance based on marketplace data, in order to help you find the best price for your course. Your pricing will still be subject to validation before publishing

Pricing Guidelines

The maximum price designers can set for their template is $25, £25 or €25 based on which geographical location applies to you. If you are not in the EU or UK then the default currency denomination to be used is $. In this article the $ will be used for all examples but please note this can be substituted for your base currency based on your location

There is no minimum price and templates can also be offered “free” if you so wish. This is a great way to garner users to download your templates by offering the less complex ones as free and the more complicated and hard to source ones at a price.

Most template prices are usually between $5 -$15 and Modeloe reserves the right to review this price before publishing on to our marketplace, if the pricing is not justified we reserve the right to ask you to amend based on our recommendation.

Please note that templates offered for a fee on Modeloe cannot be offered for free outside of Modeloe (e.g. YouTube, your own site, other sites).

Revenue Shares and Taxes

When you set your course list price, you’re setting your display price. This will also be the display price that users will see in other currencies and is calculated using our price tier matrix along with currency conversions.

Most countries have a VAT or some sort of tax associated with goods and services, these costs are built in and are added to the display price you have set e.g. if you put a template up for $10, when we add the potential VAT and other forms of taxes and cost, it will be shown on the website as $13, this ensure from our end all taxes relevant to the templates are handled by us and not deducted from the agreed price sharing revenue you enter in to with Modeloe.

Designer Promotion and Codes

Designer Promotion: 85% revenue share on sales made by Designers where the users purchase their templates using a designer coupon code. Each template uploaded and has been published by a designer will be automatically allocated a coupon code which is the same as the template ID known and will be only known to the designer, the template ID can be found when you log in by clicking on the designer tab, then selecting designer dashboard form the menu to display a list of all your templates that you have published.  You will notice each template has an ID e.g. #MDTXXXX. Each template has a different code and you can advertise these codes as you feel free on social media or any other way you want. Anyone purchasing the template and applying their respective codes will earn a discount and the revenue share going to the designer will be 85%

Modeloe Organic: 70% revenue share on organic Modeloe sales where no Designer Coupon is used. Modeloe and the instructor will share these sales, which might occur after a user browses the Modeloe marketplace for templates, or makes a purchase via a Modeloe promotion. The Designer will receive 70% of the agreed base price and the Modeloe receiving 30%

How Does Modeloe Handle VAT

The VAT (Value Added Tax) is a form of consumption tax on goods and services. VAT

Modeloe currently handles VAT for all purchases made on the website by Users as applicable based on local tax rules. In countries where VAT applies, Modeloe displays course prices as “tax-inclusive” and Users in these countries will see the tax-inclusive price as a single total, just as they would for other goods and services sold in their countries. Users will receive an email receipt which breaks down the template price excluding tax and VAT separately.
